CHAN YUNG-JEN
現居於台北，跨足多種媒材，目前主要以雕塑、裝置以及不同元素構成的計畫創作。特殊道具與舞台製作的背景也概念化的體現在其作品中，將擴張的模具概念作為討論方法，以各種方式的勞動換取不同形式的「標本」。
她的創作致力於捕捉時間留下的痕跡，並擁抱與框架不相符的異常經驗。其主要關注於各種人與自然世界、地理關係中遺留的時間與空間的記憶，以及將生命殘餘物轉化為有意義的事物的哲學探索。作品圖時反映了社會壓力下的順從與適應預定模式，以及隨之而來的個性和多樣性的喪失。她的作品常以物件的情感和社會意義來探索人與物質之間的關係，比較和討論不同定義下的個體、身體、群體和社會等議題。她創造了某種容器來保存這些痕跡，並標記它們的存在。
對藝術家本人而言，創作就像對現實的採樣，研究人類生活所共有的荒謬性，採集生活裡因為過分理所當然而常被忽略的、時間的殘影。
Chan Yung-Jen is an artist based in Taipei, Taiwan. She works across various mediums, primarily focusing on sculpture, installations, and communal projects. Drawing from her professional background in mold making and stage production, she conceptualizes her works by using the expanded mold concept as a method of discourse, exchanging labor in various forms for different forms of samples.
Her creations mainly focus on the memories of time and space in various relationships. Her work represents a philosophical exploration of the relationship between humans and the natural world, geography, and the transformation of life's remnants into something meaningful. It's a reflection on the societal pressure to conform, to fit into predefined molds, and the subsequent loss of individuality and diversity.
Her artistic endeavors aim to capture the scars left by time and embrace experiences that diverge from the norm. It involves exploring the emotional and societal implications of physical mass, as well as examining the relationships between humans and their material constructions. She compares and discusses issues concerning individuals, bodies, groups, and society under different definitions. She creates a vessel for the preservation of the spatiotemporal conditions of these traces, marking them a sense of time and existence.
For the artist herself, art is akin to sampling reality, studying the absurdity inherent in human life, and collecting the remnants of time that are often overlooked due to their taken-for-granted nature.
